About the event
Tuesday, August 25th, we’re hosting a town hall conversation on challenges in the community and how we can create lasting change. Our special guest will be BJ Council, founder of You & Five-O, who was the first African-American female to achieve the rank of Deputy Chief within the Durham City Police Department. BJ’s program addresses constitutional rights, how to safely interact with officers during vehicle and on-street encounters, and law enforcement’s role in protecting citizenry. On the other hand, her program provides teaching so that both parties can work towards trust and mutual respect. We will have real conversation with leaders in our community. From law enforcement, to the legal system, to leaders of faith. We also need your input! Join us for the town hall on August 25th at 6:30pm and participate by asking questions. We hope that this session will lead to mutual respect and compassion to everyone in Wayne County.
